HOWTO: use the mograph-mode of the beam-effect preset

// March 3, 2010

mograph-mode

In this short making-of we take a look at how the beam-effect preset for C4D can be used with mograph cloner-objects. Also, i show you how the dynamic-system for the beam-effect teaser was set up… surprisingly, it is NOT the mograph 2 dynamic system.

If you have specific questions or if you want me to show you the compositing in AE, just let me know by dropping a line in the comments.

Screaming

// March 2, 2010

in case you are wondering why there are no new howtos coming… i am currently very busy with the vocal recordings for my band’s second album. and for that we need the microphone i normally use for recording my tutorials.
i will try out the audio quality of my imac’s build-in microphone and if that’s ok, i will record a few quick tipps in between the recording sessions. sorry to keep you waiting.

Maxon Video Quick Tip on iTunes

// February 10, 2010

quicktips

Did you know that Maxon has its own podcast about Cinema 4D? In very short one-minute video-tutorials the viewer is taught some interesting, sometimes quite hidden* but always very useful features of Cinema 4D. Even if you have used Cinema 4D for a long time, you most probably will learn something new there.

* check out episodes 16 and 22 :)

HOWTO: connect the dots (the beam-effect)

// February 6, 2010

ok, the time of preparation and logo-experiments is over. let’s create some content, shall we? in the first episode of the counterparts series, we will take a look at recreating after effect’s beam effect in cinema 4D. there will be a bit of simple xpresso coding and some other tipps along the way.
xpresso, like the after effect’s expressions, can be frightening at first, but once you understand the basic principles you have a very powerful tool at hand.

i set up a cinema 4D beam-effect preset, that has all features you know from after effects and a special Mograph mode. the latter will be covered in a separate breakdown of the beam-effect teaser. still, you can download the preset now and play around with it in cinema 4D. have fun!

As you can see, i ended up with totally different counterparts-logo. a lot more simple and to the point, i think. often, the first idea is best one, because it came most natural to you. do you remember the first annoucement of the series? i already used the double-arrow-icon there without thinking much about it.
